Nolan's 2nd Halloween

Nolan was so cute as a pirate. But, we did not have a lot of tricker-treaters, so I am glad I didn't buy very much candy. Overall, Nolan had fun looking at all the new people. Oh, and Kaiya came over to visit. So, we got lots of pictures and they even traded costumes.

Halloween at Nan & Pops

We had a fun hayride and lots of good food. Oh, and Nolan was such a good boy the whole trip. 5 hour car rides are not fun for anyone, but he did so well. On Sunday when we were heading home we stopped at The Magic House in St. Louis (a children's museum). We had fun w/ Nan and Jalynn. Nolan really enjoyed exploring everything.

Exciting!!!

So about a week ago I started feeling the baby. It is so great to be able to feel him/her. I cannot describe how sweet a feeling it is. It feels like it was just yesterday that the movements were Nolan. It is a little surreal, to think that someone could be as perfect and as wonderful as Nolan.

16 Weeks!

Am I really 16 weeks? That's crazy!! I am scheduled for blood work tomorrow. It is genetic testing, so please pray that our results are all positive.

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

15 Weeks!

I'll be 15 weeks tomorrow. I am feeling great lately. I actually feel like I have a little bit of a baby belly, but I cannot decide who it is from. :) I have an appointment tomorrow, and I am excited. I just cannot wait to hear the baby again.
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")

I forgot!

Officially 2nd trimester!! I am excited. I have I mentioned that I cannot wait until Nov. 17th. I do not like having to wait for an ultrasound.

14 Weeks!

I am 14 weeks today! I feeling well, not much is new. But, if you read, this baby can do a lot. He/She is getting big!
This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

Please Pray...

As most of you know, before we were blessed with this baby, we lost one. Tyler and I consider that baby our 2nd child. Even though we were never able to meet him or she was still part of our lives for 5 weeks. Well, today October 15th, is National Day of Remembrance for pregnancy and infant loss. I just ask that whoever reads this post today or any other day, please pray for all of the families that have lost a child. God gave us peace, but there are so many that are having a painful time dealing with their loss(es). It is my pray that the mothers and fathers are able to find peace and turn to God to take the pain away.
On Nolan's blog I have a link to an amazing blog but I will post it here as well. www.audreycaroline.blogspot.com . Angie has a posted dedicated to all the readers who have or know someone who has lost a baby. She has requested them to post a comment about their loss(es) and asks the readers to pray for them. The amount that has responded is so very sad.
Thank you for your prayers. I also would like it if you could send up a prayer for this baby that is growing inside of me. Please pray for a healthy full-term baby. :)

Help yourself

I took a very long morning nap on Saturday because I was not feeling well. So, that left Tyler in charge of Nolan. Well, I guess he didn't feed him enough, because Nolan went into the kitchen and found something to eat on his own. He found the goldfish on the table, climbed in the chair and helped himself. In the meantime, Tyler was laying on the couch in the livingroom. He heard him in the kitchen and decided he should probably see what he was up to. Thankfully, he brought the camera to capture our big boy.

A cute cute little (big) boy!

Nolan got a haircut the other day, and he looks like such a big boy. I didn't realize how long it was until we cut it so short. Oh, I got my haircut too but I am not going to include any pictures of me. You'll just have to come see me if you want to know what mine looks like. :)

A new toy

Kaiya's mom bought a fun slide for Nolan and Kaiya. We keep it at our house because Kaiya is here so much. Well, she hasn't got to use it yet, but Nolan has. And he loves it. At first he would slide down it backwards, because that is how he goes down the steps. But, he has figured out how to go down the right way. He just seems so big!

13 Weeks!

I will be 13 weeks tomorrow. It feels like I just posted an update for week 12. Nothing new is happening. I guess my morning sickness has let up a lot. I only feel sick a few times about. I am more tired now. I am counting down the days until our ultrasound on Nov. 17. It will be here so soon. I cannot wait to give the baby a name. I feels so much more real when you get to see the baby.

Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.

A personal day for Mommy!

For the first time in my Mommy career I have part of the day off. Tyler and Nolan went w/ Papa Kirk and Uncle Kent to a BBQ festival (or something like that). So, I had a list in my head of everything I wanted to get done today, but my bed was calling my name. So, I took an undisturbed nap, and woke up on my own terms. I love the quietness of the house right now. Although I should be cleaning, I think I'll stay here on the couch a little bit (maybe a lotta bit) longer. :)
But, I do have to say, although I could not get used to this (I miss my baby already), it is nice every once in awhile (or every 13 months) to have a day off.

12 Weeks!

I am feeling very hungry lately. So I guess you can say that I feel better. But, overall not much is different then last week.
The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long (about the size of a lime)
